Jewellery Care Guide

Your jewellery will last a lifetime if properly cared for. Avoid physical damage, and when not wearing your piece, store it in a cool, dry place separately, so items don’t touch each other. Gemstones and metals can scratch, dent, or tarnish. Protect your jewellery from sharp impacts, abrasions, chemicals, and sudden temperature changes. Refrain from wearing jewellery while swimming or doing sports chlorine and saltwater can harm metals. Remove rings or wear protective gloves when cleaning or gardening.

Sterling Silver (.925)

Silver is naturally prone to tarnishing over time. To keep your .925 pieces bright:

  • Wipe them gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear to remove oils and moisture.

  • For deeper cleaning, use a silver-polishing cloth or a mild, non-abrasive silver cleaner. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before storing.

  • Avoid exposure to household chemicals, cosmetics, and perspiration. Store in an airtight pouch or box with anti-tarnish strips.

Solid Gold

  • 14 ct is more durable than 18 ct (which is softer and more prone to scratches), but both benefit from occasional polishing with a soft-bristled brush or cloth using warm water and detergent-free soap.

  • Store in a pouch or box with a soft, suede-like interior to prevent scratches and tarnishing.

Gold-Plated Jewellery

  • After wearing, gently wipe with a damp microfiber or soft cotton cloth to remove smudges and surface dirt.

  • Avoid moisture remove before showering, handwashing, or swimming.

  • Keep away from detergents, perfumes, hairsprays, lotions, and acidic foods.

  • Remove before exercising to prevent sweat from reacting with the plating.

  • Never use abrasive cleaners, which can cause flaking and expose the base metal.

Gemstones

  • Most gemstones are susceptible to fading or discoloration from saltwater, sun, sweat, chlorine, bleach, and cosmetics.

  • Natural stones (pearls, opals, turquoise) are porous and sensitive to moisture and acids. After each wear, delicately wipe them with a soft, dry cloth.

  • Store separately to avoid scratches from harder stones.
